'Noy' Failed to Enter the Oscars Best Foreign Language Film Category

Philippines has once again failed to penetrate the Academy Awards' Best Foreign Language Film category.

Its entry, the indie film "Noy" starring Coco Martin, is not included in the nine shortlisted films to enter the second round of selection.

The 9 films which will have the chance to become the 5 finalists in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 83rd Oscar awards are:

"Hors la Loi" - Algeria

"Incendies" - Canada

"In a Better World" - Denmark

"Dogtooth" - Greece

"Confessions" - Japan

"Biutiful" - Mexico

"Life Above All" - South Africa

"Tambien la Lluvia" - Spain

"Simple Simon" - Sweden

"Noy" features Coco Martin playing the role of Noy, an ordinary Filipino who pretended to be a journalist in order to fulfill his obligations to his family. Interestingly, he was commissioned to come up with a documentary following the campaign trail of his namesake and top presidential bet, Sen. “NOYNOY” Aquino for the 2010 Philippine National Elections.

The film, infused with actual documentary footages, inter-cut with dramatic scenes deals with poverty, survival, and hope for the Filipino family.
