KC CONCEPCION Graces "Preview" Magazine's Cover for May

On a busy afternoon, a pretty young girl sips her coffee in a lush condominium. Quite by accident, she spills the drink and the hot liquid runs through the rug. The household help rushes in with a sponge and a bowl of water in hand, ready to clean up the mess. To everyone's surprise, the pretty young girl takes the bowl and sponge, gets down on her knees, and begins to scrub away at the stain. Despite pleas for her to just leave it be, she insists on scrubbing away at the stain until the rug is finally clean.

It is a simple story of a girl who decided to show her respect to the home's owner by cleaning up after her own mess. That is, until you find out that the pretty young girl is KC Concepcion and the lush condominium was the makeshift dressing room for the cover shoot for the May issue of Preview magazine, which took place at the rooftop of a condominium building.

The entire Preview team was caught by surprise when KC got down on her knees to clean up the stain; after all, they had been treating her like the celebrity that she is all afternoon. But in that simple act of humility, KC proved that behind all the glitz and glamour is a girl who is just like everyone else—she just happens to be in show business.

As KC's star shines brightly in all forms of media, it's hard to believe that she spent much of her childhood not wanting to be in show business. "It's a dance," KC tells Preview, "Everything—fashion, acting, music—melds and works together, and that's the beauty of what we in showbiz do; it's that we can do many things all at the same time."

As KC concentrates on music and acting, she acknowledges that she could even be doing a lot more, especially since she entered showbiz to fill a personal, creative need. "But it would have been crazy!"

Watching KC as she prepared for the Preview cover shoot, one would think that her life is moving at such a dizzying speed, it is almost crazy. The Preview team paints a picture of a multi-tasking KC: as she was being dolled up on the makeup chair, she studied a script on her lap and talked to her manager, her mobile phone tucked between her ear and her shoulder.

The pressure is clearly on, and KC knows it. "I don't think people realize that there's double the pressure for me compared to others who've been in the industry for a long time and have learned the ropes here. In my case, all eyes are on the work and if you mess up, you're dead," she says, "And this makes me work doubly hard."

But she is quick to add that her mom, megastar Sharon Cuneta, has taught her a thing or two about being in this business. "My mom reminded me that at the end of the day, it is work, and that you shouldn't drown in it," she shares, "Just do your work because people will always say whatever they want about you—good or bad."

KC simply soldiers on through showbiz and tries to apply as much of her Paris education as she can. With a degree in International Corporate Communications from the American University in Paris, KC explains that many of the things she learned have fueled her fascination with brands. "I love brands!" she says excitedly. "And in my work as an actor, I'm my own brand. And I'm also my own corporation, with my own product lines. I have my music, TV, endorsements, and hopefully a movie—and they're all under my brand. It's cool!"

KC is a sight for sore eyes as she wears Bayo's ultra magnetic brights in Preview magazine this month. The May issue of Preview is now available in all leading bookstores and magazine stands at P125 per copy.
