32- year-old Hollywood actress Brittany Murphy has died of full full cardiac arrest early Sunday, December 20, 2009, morning following a 911 call from her husband, Simon Monjack. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
"The sudden loss of our beloved Brittany is a terrible tragedy," her family says in a statement. "She was our daughter, our wife, our love and a shining star. We ask you to respect our privacy at this time."
Murphy began her career at age 9 on Broadway in Les Misérables, and went on to several short-lived television gigs before landing her role as Tai in 1995's hit comedy Clueless.
She starred in hit films as 8 Mile, Uptown Girls, Sin City, Don't Say a Word, and voiced the part of Luanne Platter in the Fox animated series King of the Hill. She became a tabloid favorite for dating Ashton Kutcher during and after their film, Just Married.
The actress was engaged several times—first to former agent, Jeff Kwatinetz, then Little Black Book production assistant Joe Macaluso—before marrying screenwriter Monjack in 2007.
